It has come to our attention, and by now many of you are aware, that the health insurance carrier Anthem, Inc.’s computer systems were breached by cyber hackers last month using very sophisticated methods. It appears that personal information relating to current and former corporate and individual customers and employees alike has been captured. This personal information could include names, dates of birth, social security numbers, email addresses, member ID’s and possibly income. This may be the largest ever data breach involving a US health insurer.
Further details have not been provided; however, the company has established a website, www.anthemfacts.com, where members can access information about the situation.
There is also a dedicated toll-free number that current and former members can call if they have questions related to this incident: (877) 263-7995.
