It is that time of year again! The annual NASBP Legislative Fly-In. The event will begin the evening of Tuesday, June 9, at a pre-Fly-in reception at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., during which NASBP will provide talking points for Fly-in attendees. On Wednesday, June 10, attendees will enjoy breakfast with guest speakers, U.S. Representatives Steve Chabot (R-OH-1st), Mike Coffman (R-CO-6th), Rick Allen (R-GA-12th) and Patrick Murphy (D-FL-18th). The rest of the day will be dedicated to Capitol Hill appointments with federal legislators and will end with an evening cocktail reception at the Hyatt Regency.
NASBP and its members have made great efforts to increase its visibility on Capitol Hill to advocate the associations federal government relations agenda and to remind elected officials and their staff about the important role surety bonds play in our Nation’s economy. This year we are focusing on a bill(House Bill 776) that would benefit the industry by setting more stringent requirements for assets backing individual surety bonds. Also on the agenda is discussing enhancements to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Surety Bond Guarantee Preferred Program and expressing why lawmakers should include surety bond requirements for public-private partnership agreements.
Over the years, the Fly-In has become a successful event and now NASBP members are able to talk about specific issues and lawmakers are understanding the importance of the surety industry and the surety product.
