NASBP Announces SBA’s New Mentor-protégé Rules

We are pleased to provide this article that describes the U.S. Small Business Administration final rule establishing a new and expanded mentor-protégé program for all types of small businesses. The article was written by Lori Ann Lange, a partner in the law firm of Peckar & Abramson, whose partner, Adrian Bastianelli, serves on the NASBP Attorney Advisory Council. The final rule, issued on July 25, 2016, expands the small business mentor-protégé program to all types of small businesses, so that, in addition to 8(a) small businesses, HUBZone small businesses, women-owned small businesses, and service-disabled veteran-owner small businesses are eligible to participate in the small business mentor-protégé program.

NASBP plans to publish an expanded article on this new SBA final rule. NASBP and EC&S will continue its efforts to monitor and update you on important developments in the construction and surety industries.
