Protect Your Home From Cold-Weather Damage

The temperatures are starting to drop and it is time to start thinking about preparing your home for freezing temperatures.  There are several simple steps you can take to help avoid damage, including the following:

  • Insulate pipes in unheated areas
  • Clean out gutters and downspouts
  • Disconnect garden hoses and cover outside faucets
  • Locate and tag water main shut-off valve
  • Inspect your furnace, fireplace and flue prior to winter use
  • Install a leak detection system in an unoccupied home
